About This Site

This Website is presented as a resource for schools considering going charter as an option for addressing school improvement. It offers users access to multimedia stories and resources from the transformation of three charter schools in the San Diego Unified School District: Keiller Leadership Academy, Gompers Charter Middle School, and King-Chavez Academies. Resources were drawn from multiple sources of information, including archived California Charter Schools Association and school records, site visits, interviews with key stakeholders, and an invitational symposium held in San Diego, CA on January 26, 2008.

We offer a heartfelt “thank you” to all of the schools for their time in helping develop this valuable resource and generous sharing of strategies with the field.

This Website is sponsored by the Association and was developed in collaboration with WestEd. The contents of this Website were developed under a grant from the Department of Education (U282N060006).
